How To Make Psilocybin Magic Mushroom Honey

Previously, we provided guides on preparing magic mushroom tea and using the lemon tek method. Today, we'll explore the benefits of magic honey.

Why Make Magic Honey? Magic honey offers several advantages: it tastes good, preserves mushrooms for longer periods, and allows for easy dosing.

Honey is a natural preservative with high sugar content, low water content, and small amounts of hydrogen peroxide that inhibit bacterial growth. This unique combination extends the shelf life of magic mushrooms, making it ideal for microdosing.

Another advantage of magic honey is its versatility in dosing. You can adjust the mushroom-to-honey ratio to create a mild or potent mixture, depending on your preferences.

If you want a subtle creative boost without a strong trip, a spoonful of a light mixture in your morning tea will suffice.

Alternatively, you can create a concentrated "blue honey" by packing as many mushrooms as possible into the mixture. Just a spoonful or two will take you on a more intense journey. This is great for those planning a significant psychedelic experience.

What You Need:

  • Honey or agave honey (preferably runny)

  • A milligram scale

  • Magic mushrooms - Need some? Grab some from our shop!

  • Airtight glass jar

  • Coffee or cannabis grinder (or a sharp knife as a less effective alternative)

  • Optional: A strainer

Steps for Preparing Magic Honey:

  1. Weigh the magic mushrooms using a scale. This step is crucial for accurate dosing and avoiding an overwhelming or underwhelming trip.

  2. Layer the magic mushrooms and honey in the jar: mushroom layer, honey layer, mushroom layer, and so on. Repeat until you've added the desired amount of mushrooms. Alternatively, you can mix them in a bowl, but be aware that sticky honey may result in some waste.

  3. Seal the jar and store it in a cool, dark place.

  4. Wait for a few months, ideally 3 to 4 months. The longer you wait, the more potent the honey will become as it absorbs more psilocybin.

Optional: After step 4, you can strain the psilocybin-infused honey into another airtight jar, discarding the actual magic mushrooms. This eliminates the risk of experiencing the usual magic mushroom nausea, similar to preparing magic mushroom tea.

Avoiding Over-Oxidation of Magic Honey: Excessive oxidation can reduce the potency of magic honey, so it's best to prevent it from turning too blue. While a slight blue tint may naturally occur, avoid intentionally bruising the mushrooms to make the honey bluer.

The Other Psychedelic Honey: Mad Honey Mad honey, also known as red honey, is a different type of psychedelic honey made by bees from rhododendron flowers. You can find it for sale online, but it's important to note that serious adverse effects are possible, including dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and, rarely, death. It's safer to use it in small doses for medicinal or mild recreational purposes.

Legal Status of Magic Mushroom Honey: The legality of magic honey depends on the legality of magic mushrooms in your jurisdiction. In the United States, magic mushrooms are decriminalized in Oregon and several specific locations. As for mad honey, it may not be as well-known and could have varying legal statuses across different countries and states. It's advisable to check the legal status of both substances in your specific area.

  • Avoid heating the honey to make it runny, as excessive heat can diminish mushroom potency.

  • Ensure your mushrooms are thoroughly dried to prevent potency loss due to oxidation.

  • Remember that mushroom potency can vary, so start with a small spoonful to gauge the effects.
